POP3 ist eine Version des Post Office Protocol. Es handelt sich dabei um ein Übertragungsprotokoll, worüber ein E-Mail-Client Nachrichten von einem E-Mail-Server abholen kann.
Programme wie Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird und Outlook Express unterstützen das POP3-Protokoll.
